CDL Driver Instructor

General Description of Duties:
This position is responsible for providing daily training in the pre-specified curriculum, that was designed to utilize simulation and computer based training that is used as enhancements to the hands-on-training.

Duties & Responsibilities:
o Prepare trainees to succeed in passing Excel’s training program
o Provide training using simulation, computer based training and Hands-on
o Assure that a quality curriculum is presented to the trainees
o Monitor and promote advancement of the trainees
o Establish and maintain the trainee’s self-confidence during the course
o When deemed necessary, recommend supplemental training
o Provide one-on-one tutorial sessions for select students
o Prepare trainees to acquire a CDL license (where appropriate)
o Assist in the development of training strategies
o Provide daily progress reports and score homework assignments
o Keep Operations Manager informed of class status and any operational issues
o When necessary, assume training assignments off-site
o Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
o Five (5) plus years CDL driving
o Valid / current CDL license.
o No DUI / DWIs
o No chargeable accidents or reckless driving citations in the past five (5) years, with no more than one (1) in the past ten (10) years
o No speeding tickets where speed was 15 mph in excess over posted speed, in the past five (5) years
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Sensitivity to the needs of adult trainees
o Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred:
Prior experience in driver instruction
Prior experience in administering road, written, skills tests for CDL
Certification if any, in Safety Training Courses.
